PhDs in Non-Academic Environments

Excellence Beyond Graduation

iBB hosts several doctoral researchers funded through the FCT Doctoral Fellowships in Non-Academic Environments. These fellowships support doctoral research carried out in partnership between iBB and a non-academic organisation, such as a company, hospital, public body or other societal institution.

By combining academic research with experience in non-academic settings, the programme fosters knowledge exchange and helps ensure that iBB research addresses real-world challenges while preparing researchers for careers both within and beyond academia.
