PhD Programmes

iBB promotes a dynamic and engaging educational-scientific environment, offering PhD students the opportunity to tackle research questions and technological challenges aligned with the Institute’s aims. The team is involved in the set-up, design, management, teaching and leadership of the following PhD degree, which is awarded by Instituto Superior Técnico.

PhD Program in Bioengineering and Biosciences

The IST-ULisboa PhD Program in Bioengineering (coordinator João Pedro Conde) is designed to prepare a new generation of bioengineering researchers to translate biological and biomedical sciences discoveries into technological innovations in the fields of Industrial and Health Bioengineering. This unified programme offers three areas of specialization — Biological Sciences, Biological Engineering, and Biomedical Engineering — enabling candidates to develop deep expertise while benefiting from a strongly interdisciplinary environment that bridges fundamental biology, engineering sciences, and biomedical innovation.
