This project aimed at the development of 3D magnetic-responsive perfusable devices, for the production of in vitro biocompatible and non-thrombogenic vascular grafts, which may be used for the replacement of dysfunctional vessels. Furthermore, these magnetic-responsive devices are envisaged to prompt the design of more accurate cell models which faithfully mimic the hierarchical architecture of the native vessel networks. These cell models should allow for a better understanding of the cellular mechanisms underlying vascularization processes, being regarded as a source of knowledge, which may privilege advances of state of the art in regenerative medicine and the development of novel clinical therapies needed for the treatment of vascular and angiogenic related diseases.
