At the recent 3rd International Multidisciplinary Conference on Polymers & Chemistry, three iBB researchers achieved top honors for their innovative work in the field of biotechnology, biomaterials and nanotechnology.
Diana Marques was awarded the 1st prize for best poster presentation with her groundbreaking study titled “Edible Electrospun Plant-Based Nanofibers for Fish Cell Culture: Advancing Scaffolds for Cultured Fish.” Her research focuses on the development of sustainable and edible nanofibers for fish cell culture, offering promising advancements for cultured fish production.
Ana Agostinho secured the 2nd prize for best poster presentation with her project, “3D Printing Hybrid Approaches for the Development of Biomimetic Cardiac Patches.” Her work explores the cellular integration in hybrid materials that mimic the natural properties of cardiac tissues, developing bioprinting technologies to revolutionize cardiac repair and regeneration techniques.
Catarina Jones received the Best Early Career Researcher award for her oral presentation on “Synthesis of BTO-PEDOT Core-Shell NPs as Wireless Nanobioelectronic Devices for Cancer Therapy.” In the last year, she has been focusing on developing novel nanobioelectronic platforms to hijack cancer’s bioelectrical properties, potentially offering more accessible and efficient cancer therapies.
