iBB had a strong presence at the 2nd International Online Conference on Functional Biomaterials (IOCFB 2026), organized by the Journal of Functional Biomaterials and held online on 8 – 10 July 2026, with two researchers receiving conference awards.
DBE/iBB researcher João Carlos Silva received the Best Oral Presentation Award for his participation in the conference, recognized for the oral presentation entitled “Piezoelectric 3D-Printed Scaffolds Coupled with Ultrasound Stimulation for Improved Bone Tissue Engineering Strategies,” presented in the session on “Reactive/Smart Biomaterials.” The work was co-authored by Frederico Barbosa, Pedro Marcelino and Filipe Miguel, PhD students in Bioengineering at DBE/iBB.
Kristin Sholler received the Best Poster Award (CHF 200) for her poster entitled “Top-Down and Bottom-Up Biofabrication of Biomimetic Cartilage Scaffolds for Regenerative Applications.”
Congratulations to João Carlos Silva, Kristine Sholler and their co-authors on this recognition!
