FRET-IDP Community Resource
Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) is a powerful experimental technique for characterizing the conformational ensembles of intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs). However, FRET data for IDPs currently lack a centralized deposition resource alongside standardization, and are often scattered across repositories like Zenodo, limiting accessibility and reuse. This project aims to develop the first dedicated registry for IDP-related FRET data, ensuring compliance with FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles. In parallel, it will define community-driven standards for the minimal information required to report FRET experiments on IDPs, by extending the the Minimum Information About a Disorder Experiment (MIADE) guidelines and promoting transparency, reproducibility, and interoperability across structural biology resources.
