A new tool for point-of-care fungal infection diagnosis

Home / News & Events / iBB News / A new tool for point-of-care fungal infection diagnosis
iniBB News, Research

New tools for the rapid diagnosis of human fungal infections are highly needed to provide the best therapeutic options and prevent the rise of antimicrobial resistance.

As the result of a fruitful collaboration between iBB and INESC-MN, under the auspices of the Associate Lab I4HB, a new step towards the development of a point-of-care fungal infection diagnostics tool was just published in Wiley’s VIEW.

Under the supervision of Miguel Cacho Teixeira, iBB / IST, and Diogo Caetano, INESC-MN and Flash Diagnostics, and with important contributions from the teams led by Cátia Caneira and Cristina Bárbara, ISAMB / FMUL, this is the first outcome of Maria Zolotareva’s PhD work, that bridges the gap between microbiology, genomics, nanotechnology and microelectronics!
