New review article on the bacterial family Endozoicomonadaceae in marine symbioses published

Endozoicomonadaceae bacteria live in association with marine animals across all ocean ecosystems.

A comprehensive review published in Communications Biology explores the roles of this prominent marine bacterial family in marine host–microbe interactions, from well-studied type strains to uncultured clades, and from beneficial to harmful, yet still poorly understood associations with marine animals.

Authored by Daniela da Silva, Rodrigo Costa, and Tina Keller-Costa, the review provides an advanced genomic perspective on the functional diversity of Endozoicomonadaceae. It highlights their roles in marine symbioses, potential applications in microbiome engineering, and key ecological knowledge gaps to be addressed in future research.
