Biotech is key to protein diversification, the most impactful lever of the food system transition. Food biotech is also a matter of geopolitical relevance for the future of food and Europe is behind.
Our collaborative project gathers for the first time EU food biotech actors with EIT Food to build an ecosystem and initiatives that will foster entrepreneurship and secure EU leadership in deep food biotech.
The project task force, composed of researchers, innovators, advisors, & institutions, will produce a set of milestone-based recommendations across 7 pillars: Education; Knowledge & Policy; Facilities; Consumers; Support Programs; Funding ; Ecosystem. These initiatives will support biotech startups; foster education; facilitate public and private funding access; and strengthen competitive initiatives & collaboration to make EU a leader in deep food biotech.
We will consolidate knowledge and generate recommendations that will lead to the emergence of talents, technical innovation & dedicated funding schemes.
