DeathTrigger
This project aims to identify new phage proteins that can specifically activate dormant cells of S. aureus, in order to resensitize them to antibiotics. To fulfill this main objective, the following objectives will be pursued: i) Establish a collection of phages of S. aureus active against dormant cells; ii) Identify phage genes responsible for the activation of dormant cells; iii) Explore phage proteins capable of activating bacterial cells; iv) Establish in vitro and in vivo proof of principle of efficacy and safety of protein / antibiotic combinations
