Expertise: In vivo and in vitro experimental evolution, Gene editing, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, In vivo models (G. mellonella) and cell culture
Short Bio:
Sara Gomes is a PhD student in Biotechnology and Biosciences supervised by Prof. Leonilde M. Moreira (IST, UL) and Dr. Vaughn S. Cooper (University of Pittsburgh, USA). Sara was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Instituto Superior de Agronomia, UL (2016) and a Master’s Degree in Microbiology from Instituto Superior Técnico, UL (2018). Sara’s work focuses on the evolution of molecular and phenotypic adaptative traits of B. multivorans during infection of the CF lung. By evolving bacterial populations in different a/biotic environments she aims to uncover the evolutionary pathway of this bacterium and, to find new potential therapeutic targets.
