Short Bio:
Pedro C.B. Fernandes, PhD, is a dedicated researcher at iBB – Institute for Bioengineering and Biosciences and an Associate Professor at Universidade Lusófona. Specializing in Applied Biocatalysis, he focuses on designing enzyme-based processes for green and sustainable production in a circular economy, emphasizing stable and robust biocatalyst formulations. Pedro's research is anchored in miniaturized platforms for high throughput, yielding significant outputs in sugar/oligosaccharide syrups, polyhydroxyalkanoates, siderophores, steroids, and rational enzyme immobilization. With over 100 papers and 20 book chapters, he actively contributes to collaborative projects and scientific events, showcasing his commitment to advancing bioengineering.
