Mário Berberan e Santos is Full Professor of Physical Chemistry, Materials and Nanosciences at Instituto Superior Tecnico, University of Lisbon. He is a Chemistry Europe Fellow, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry and member of the Editorial Advisory Boards of Methods and Applications in Fluorescence (Institute of Physics, UK), and Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology (Elsevier), author/editor of three books, including Molecular Fluorescence. Principles and Applications (Wiley-VCH, 2012), 220+ articles and book chapters, and 4 patents. His work has received 17,000+ citations, with an h-index of 47 (Google Scholar) and was included in Stanford's “World’s Top 2% Scientists 2022”.
Research Focus:
Molecular photophysics and kinetics, including luminescent molecular probes, radiative and nonradiative electronic energy transfer and transport in synthetic and biological systems, and the photophysics of carbon materials.
