Expertise: Electrospinning, Biomaterials, Cell Culture, Scaffold Characterization
Short Bio:
Mafalda Santos completed her master's degree in Biomedical Engineering at University of Lisbon - Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in December 2022. The main aim of her master thesis was to develop and characterize electrospun scaffolds to mimic the structure, architecture and the composition of native periodontal tissue extracellular matrix, envisaging periodontal tissue engineering strategies. Her research focuses primarily on the development of functional hierarchical biomaterials that mimic the periodontal tissue and the assessment of their potential to support cell proliferation and differentiation.
Research Focus:
Development of biomimetic scaffolds for periodontal tissue engineering
