Short Bio:
Laura Alves is a young Biological Engineer interested in stem cell culture and characterization with applications in regenerative medicine and cellular agriculture. Laura attained a master’s degree in Biological Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST, Portugal) in 2021, working with Periodontal Ligament-derived stem cells. During her PhD research, Laura has taken an interest in cellular agriculture and its potential to contribute to food security and environment-friendly food systems. Currently, her work focuses on developing research in isolation of cells from various Atlantic fish species for applications in cultivated seafood products.
