Expertise: Gene, adhesins, genome, Pseudomonas, Burkholderia
Short Bio:
José Luís José João is a PhD student in Biotechnology and Biosciences at IST, supported by a research grant awarded by FCT under the Bolsas LP program. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Laboratory Biomedical Technology from the Higher Institute of Health Sciences of Mozambique (2013-2017), a Master's degree in Public Health from the Catholic University of Mozambique (2020-2021), and a Master's degree in Biosciences from Eduardo Mondlane University (2021-2023).
José Luís's research aims to identify adhesin genes in the genomes of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and bacteria from the Burkholderia cepacia complex. This research plan is expected to contribute to a better understanding of the adhesion process of these two model microorganisms to host epithelial cells during the initial stages of infection.
Research Focus:
Research on the identification of adhesin genes in the genomes of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and bacteria from the Burkholderia cepacia complex.
