Short Bio:
Frederico Ferreira, an Associate Professor (Bioengineering Department@IST), leads at iBB, the Focus Areas in Process/Devices and Materials Engineering for Health and Sustainability (pMESH and dMESH). He got his PhD from Imperial College London (2024) and holds a MBA (2008) and a 5-year BSc in Chemistry (2-years specialization in Biotechnology, 1999), both from Nova Lisbon. His research lines are: 1. Biomaterials and bioreactors, namely designing electrical and magnetic stimuli responsive nanotechnologies, scaffolds and bio-inks for tissue engineering and cancer therapies; 2. Sustainability separation and biorefineries, focused on pharmaceutics and biosurfactants production and purification; and 3. Cellular Agriculture, focused on fish-based food products with lower ecological impact.
