Expertise: 3D bioprinting, biomaterials, rheological analyses
Short Bio:
Duarte Almeida is a PhD student in Bioengineering at Instituto Superior Técnico. He graduated with a Masters in Biomedical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico in 2023, after earning his Bachelor's degree in 2021 from the same institution. Duarte's PhD project was awarded a scholarship from Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) and is a collaboration with the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Troy, NY, US). The project focuses on the 3D bioprinting of a skin model that is innervated and vascularized, aiming at it being used in clinical practice.
Research Focus:
Investigation of biomaterials and processes to biofabricate human tissues.
