Short Bio:
Ana Fernandes-Platzgummer (AFP) is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Bioengineering at Instituto Superior Técnico and the principal investigator at the "Smart Bioprocess Design for Cellular and Molecular Therapies LAB" at SCERG-iBB. With a PhD in Bioengineering Systems from the MIT-Portugal Program (2011), AFP research focus on scalable bioprocess engineering for the production of cells and their derivatives. AFP has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and raised €0.6M for research since 2016. AFP supervises 4 PhD and 2 master's students. Her work is characterized by interdisciplinary collaboration, focusing on cost-effective, integrated bioprocess solutions for producing cell and cell-derived products.

Research Focus:
Ana Fernandes-Platzgummer research focuses on designing bioprocesses for large-scale production of various cell types and derivatives from different species, including human, porcine, and bovine species.
