Short Bio:
Abdul Mateen is a dedicated researcher with a strong background in biotechnology, currently pursuing a PhD in Bioengineering under the SurfEx Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions scholarship.
He is hosted at Bac3Gel and collaborates with iBB. Previously, Abdul served as a Research Assistant at the National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE) in Pakistan, working on projects related to prebiotics and antimicrobial agents(2023-24). He holds a Master’s in Biotechnology from NIBGE (2022) and a Bachelor’s in Biotechnology from the University of Sargodha(2020). His expertise includes microbiological and molecular techniques, bioinformatics, and biosafety analysis. In addition to his research work, Abdul has participated in numerous scientific seminars and training courses. He is also an active volunteer and enjoys reading, playing guitar, and engaging in art and design.
Research Focus:
In vitro modeling of intestinal mucus to study gut microbiota dynamics, pathogen interactions, and antimicrobial development using Bac3Gel technology.
