PhD Programmes
iBB promotes a dynamic and engaging educational-scientific environment, offering PhD students the opportunity to tackle research questions and technological challenges aligned with the Institute’s aims. The team is involved in the set-up, design, management, teaching and leadership of the following PhD degrees, which are awarded by Instituto Superior Técnico.
PhD Program in Bioengineering
The IST-ULisboa PhD Program in Bioengineering (coordinator João Pedro Conde) is designed to prepare a new generation of bioengineering researchers to translate biological and biomedical sciences discoveries into technological innovations in the fields of Industrial and Health Bioengineering.
PhD Program in Biotechnology and Biosciences
The IST-ULisboa PhD Program in Biotechnology and Biosciences (coordinator Arsénio Fialho, from iBB) is designed to prepare a new breed of creative researchers to translate basic bioscience discoveries into technological developments and lead scientific and technological innovation in Industrial, Agro-Food, Health and Environmental Biotechnology.
PhD Program in Biomedical Engineering
The IST-ULisboa PhD Program in Biomedical Engineering (coordinator João Miguel Sanches), an institutional collaboration between IST and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, integrates principles of engineering and biological sciences to develop technologies and systems that improve human health.

MSc Degrees
iBB offers Master students of the degrees in Biological Engineering, Biomedical, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Pharmaceutical Engineering at IST, and of other Universities the opportunity to conduct their thesis projects in a dynamic and engaging educational-scientific environment.
