EquipmentResearch activities at iBB require experimentation that involves manipulation of delicate components (microbial, animal and human cells, tissues and cell organelles, proteins, nucleic acids, etc.). Laboratories are fully equipped with a complete portfolio of laboratory furniture (e.g. laminar flow hoods, workbenches), equipment, chemicals and supplies. Equipment is available to perform a wide range of analytical determinations (HPLC, GC and GC-MS, 1D and 2D electrophoresis, spectroscopy, microscopy, flow cytometry, particle size determination, PCR, cloning, etc), biophysical studies (steady-state and Time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS), and advanced fluorescence microscopy techniques such as FRET-FLIM and FRAP) and complex bioprocess operations (stem cell and mammalian cell cultures, fermentation, centrifugation, membrane processing, process chromatography, etc). |
