Research Activities

Developing a system which could be used to produce Mannosylerythritol lipids  (MEL) - a group of potent biosurfactants - sustainably, from renewable resources, with minimal waste, and within the biorefinery concept. Researching possible improvements to the existing production process in terms of yield, overall sustainability and energy and water consumption. Extracting and testing produced biosurfactant for various applications, including marine and soil bioremediation.
