Research Activities

Point of care, especially lateral flow assays and diagnostics are becoming increasingly important. Many analytes often occur in low concentrations, and usually in complex sample matrices such as beverages and food, and body fluids, especially blood. For successful application these detection methods must be combined with effective, efficient methods of sample processing, clean-up, and analyte concentration. The methods used in sample processing for assays also often can find larger applications, e.g., in manufacturing of viruses for vaccines and therapeutics. I'm focused in the purification and detection of viruses and virus like particles (VLPs) as target analytes. These tasks will be performed in iBB and Prof. Richard C. Willson's lab, on the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, University of Houston
