Plasmonic biosensing for clinical diagnosis using spherical gold
nanoparticles dimers assembled through DNA hybridization. The preparation of
metal nanoparticle dimers is progressing from spherical to rod-shaped
particles because these particles can work as optical antennas, providing a
way to increase the response signal from biosensors based on fluorescence
signaling. Particularly, my research focuses in gold nanorods functionalized
with molecular beacons with the objective of sensing specific disease
markers, e.g. nucleic acids.
