Application of synthetic membranes to bioengineering fields, entailing processing (crossflow filtration and chromatography), surface modification (for biocompatibility, filtration improvement and selective adsorption capacity), and bioreactors. Interest in bioprocess integration regarding microbial cell factories for the production of biofarmaceuticals.
